BOSSA NEVA

This piece was created for the documentary *The Knight Born from Captivity: Don Quixote*, produced by İris Anka and directed by Mehmet Gün. It is used to depict the period of captivity experienced by Cervantes in Istanbul—the capital of the Ottoman Empire—following his capture at the Battle of Lepanto. The work is an arrangement of the opening section of the *Nev'a Peşrev*—composed by Tanbûrî Cemil Bey (1871–1916)—reimagined in a Bossa Nova Jazz/Blues style. The *tanbur* parts were performed by architect Celaleddin Çelik.
